The home of Kingdom, St Helens has appeared in the news recently for the regeneration efforts that are taking place in the area including neighbourhood renewals, art projects and business development.
Like many towns in the North West, St-Helens was once a thriving industrial town which played an important part in the mining, glass and manufacturing industries.
These days, St Helens commerce revolves around the pharmaceutical and retail industries, with companies like GlaxoSmithKline calling the town home. Despite the apparent decline of industry in St-Helens, the Pilkington's glass works is still, by far, the largest employer in the town.
St Helens is well served by transport links and is only a short distance from Wigan, Liverpool and Manchester.
