Through expert training provider Kingdom Academy, Eve’s ongoing apprenticeship, was one in which she impacted her workplace and her wider community. Eve also completed her Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship with Distinctions in every part of the course, finishing with an Overall Distinction.

Having joined the apprenticeship programme in July 2023 with no prior experience in the housing industry, Eve quickly proved that attitude and willingness to learn can go a long way.

At West Lancashire Borough Council, Eve has worked across the Income, Lettings and Property Management and Repairs Team.

Sara Roberts, Chief Services Officer at Kingdom Academy, said: “Eve’s journey hasn’t just been about her own development. She consistently supported her peers, and created a learning culture where asking for help felt welcome. That sort of peer leadership leaves a lasting impression.”

In attendance on the day was a wide selection of family, friends and West Lancashire Housing Team.

Alan Leicester, Director of Housing at WLBC, says “West Lancashire’s culture is to support the development of individuals to meet their greatest potential. One of our areas of focus is supporting Apprentices into the work environment and helping them to achieve their ambitions and long-term career preferences.

Eve has benefited from the commitment we have at WLBC, however she has grabbed the opportunity with both hands and we are extremely proud that she is working with us and we hope she continues to do so for many years yet.”

Sara Roberts continues, “What makes Eve stand out even more is her commitment to the community. She played a key role in a resident involvement project, helping to plan and deliver events that strengthened relationships with residents and improved community engagement. This is the kind of contribution that shows how apprentices can be real drivers of positive change.”

Eve’s achievements have already had a tangible impact at work. Her 12-month Resident Events Plan is a great example. She did not just take part, she led the planning and delivery, helping to build lasting engagement with the local community. Her ability to take ownership and deliver outcomes has made a real difference and has also helped to shape her future career path.

Helen Core, Assistant Director of Housing at WLBC, commented: “It’s always a pleasure to work with our apprentices and witness their growth in confidence and capability. At a time when the professionalisation of the sector is on the national agenda, for Eve to be recognised by the Chartered Institute of Housing is a fantastic achievement and hugely deserved.”

Debbie Stewart Asset Strategy & Investment Manager “Eve has been an absolute delight to work with. I’ve had the privilege of watching her transform from a shy and reserved young woman into someone who now approaches tasks with confidence, enthusiasm, and a proactive attitude.

She is a credit to everyone who has supported her development, and a shining example of the impact that positive guidance and opportunity can have.”
