Kingdom is delighted to welcome Chris Burman-Day to the company, who has joined the Operations, Food & Logistics Division following the recent acquisition of CDO Group, where Chris was part of the management team.
Chris manages a portfolio of accounts in the food & agri-business and logistics sectors, providing operations management and specialist security and risk knowledge in this area.
He has nearly 20 years’ experience of security and risk related disciplines, with experience in the military as well as public and private sector work. His career has been varied, and he has worked in protective security and information and intelligence gathering, and more recently in corporate security. In the past he has provided protective security for senior members of the British Royal family as well as managing surveillance and intelligence teams tasked with protecting some of the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).
Chris is a Certified Security Consultant, and holds a Masters degree in Security and Crisis Management. He has also started researching a Doctorate focusing on public and private partnerships in delivering policing and security. He has been a member of both ASIS and The Security Institute, and has been a regular contributor on security and risk issues to a range of recognised publications. In 2013 he set up the Rural Crime & Security Network, which is a free social media based tool to spread the word on rural crime issues and best security practice to farming and rural communities. In parallel to some of his academic work he was then asked to present on rural crime and security to a number of stakeholder groups, engage with the new Police & Crime Commissioners and consult with the agricultural press on the topic. He brings all of these skills and experience to Kingdom and now specialises in security, crisis and risk solutions, particularly for clients at risk from single-issue groups and organised criminality.
Chris believes passionately that we succeed through investment in our people, and that our commitment to drive standards in customer service at the core is brought about by development and investment in our people, which starts with great recruitment, excellent training and on-going development. These are things which he hopes to continue to develop in him and the front line teams.
Outside of work, his family are the reason that he is driven to succeed, whether that is professionally or through study and research. That drive is echoed outside work where he enjoys training for and competing in endurance events, specifically mountain and ultra-marathons. He has already raced one ultra-marathon this year and is currently in training for a long distance Ironman triathlon as well as a number of other running and cycling endurance events throughout the year. He has also not given up on his aim of climbing the 7 summits, which are the highest mountain on each continent, and has made a start.
He has been lucky enough to visit some great places in the world, but his favourite holiday to date has to have been camping in Snowdonia at the foot of the hills with his wife and eldest child. “Those few days in my favourite place on Earth, with my favourite people, experiencing everything the weather Gods could throw at us. Amazing”.
Chris found it tricky to name his favourite film, although settled on any of the Bond films, despite that being a bit of a cliché! Unsurprisingly his favourite activity is “just being active, outside, ideally up hills!” When asked what his favourite food is he replied “grilled skinless chicken breast with steamed broccoli ... who am I kidding? Pizza!” and when asked who he would like to sit down and have a drink with, he answered Sir Ranulph Fiennes, as he is a soldier, a leader, an innovator, and a genuine explorer in the truest sense of the word.
