Kingdom’s Petula Summerfield is preparing to run the Race for Life in Horsham on June 7th in order to raise money for Cancer Research UK, and has so far raised an incredible £1,888 for the charity.
Pet’s granddad lost his fight to cancer in 1997, and so is running the 5k race in his memory. She describes him as “a very kind, loving, fun granddad, everything a granddaughter could wish for.”
Commenting on her fundraising efforts, Petula, who is from Burgess Hill, West Sussex, and works for Kingdom’s Cleaning Division at the Market Place Shopping Centre said: “I have always given money to cancer charities but never thought about doing Race for Life until now. It’s a perfect way to remember him.”
Petula originally aimed to raise £150 for Cancer Research UK, but at the time of writing this post she has in fact raised £1,888 – or 1258% of her target! Commenting on this incredible feat, Pet says: “This has been truly amazing – I never thought I would raise this much! Many many thanks to all my friends and family that have sponsored me so far. My dream would be to get to £2000.”
