The Stop The War & Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) demonstration regarding the actions of Israel in Gaza will take place this Saturday 9th August 2014.

The demonstration will form up outside the BBC in Portland Place, W1, from midday. It is then due to set off at approximately 1pm, moving South down Regents Street, then right into Oxford Street, then left into North Audley Street, then around Grosvenor Square, walking past the US Embassy and then along Upper Grosvenor Street, right into Park Lane and then into Hyde Park, via Cumberland Gate and North carriage Drive. The demonstration will then conclude near Reformers Tree in Hyde Park where there will be a number of speeches.

The event is due to end at approximately 5pm. It has been organised by Stop the War and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC).

It is anticipated that up to 20,000 people may take part (although current estimates suggest 11,000 will attend).

During the demonstration, it will be necessary to close a number of roads around the Oxford Street area. This will undoubtedly cause significant traffic, crowd and business disruption in the vicinity. There will also be an increase in noise levels. Transport hubs will also be much more busy than usual.

It should also be noted this event coincides with the Prudential Ride London cycle event in and around the West End of London and the City of London where again there will be extensive road closures and disruption. Further details of this event can be obtained via the www.prudentialridelondon.co.uk website.

There is a proportionate policing plan in place to deal with this demonstration. There will be Police Liaison Officers on duty throughout the events. They will be linking in and engaging with the demonstrators.
